When the camera was invented in 1839, artists collectively lost their shiiiit.
Because for literal centuries, their job was to post up with their fave paintbrush and recreate what they saw: lush rolling hills, candlelit dinner scenes, and if they played their cards right, the royal resting bitch face of Aunt Margret the Third.
And for centuries, they slay-th the game 👑
But then… along came this shiny contraption that could do the same thing in five seconds flat (without the oil stains or the back pain).
So yeah, your home boys panicked.
Because who’s gonna pay them to immortalize Aunty M III or paint a bowl of mildly bruised pears when this new tech can do it faster?
So, what were they do to? Complain about it? (Valid. But that gets old after awhile)
Boycott cameras entirely? (Nice try. That thing wasn’t going anywhere.)
Shove their stippler brushes in a drawer and call it quits? (Le sigh)
Some painters probably did. But a select few decided to say “fuck that” (verbatim quote) and saw a pretty epic opportunity instead ⬇️
If the camera could show the outside world exactly as it is…
…what if their job now was to paint what couldn’t be seen?
So. They stopped copying the outside world and started painting what couldn’t be photographed: Surreal interpretations. Dreams. Memories.
And so, a whole new era movement of art was born in the form of surrealism, impressionism, and abstract art.
And whether they meant to or not, they made something even more powerful:
Work that couldn’t be replicated.

Now, flash forward 186 years. Same panic, different century.
Because the new camera is… you guessed it: AI.
Because suddenly, a robot can write faster than you.
It can generate whatever image you want immediately
Create logos and branding based on a few prompts
Draft a whole newsletter before your morning coffee even cools.
And look…I get it. It’s hella faster, it’s a lot easier, it’s cheap if not free, it saves brainpower, and it feels safe.
But here’s the thing: anyone can do that. And right now? Everyone is. (Especially in written content!)
And if everyone’s outsourcing their voice to a robot…Guess what everyone’s emails are starting to sound like? (I’ll give ya a hint: 💤💤💤)
…It sounds like the same tired content you’ve already seen in 14 carousels and 3 newsletters this week.
So if you’re wondering why your audience isn’t clicking, well, maybe it’s because they’ve seen this email before. Just… from someone else.
But what if *you* didn’t do that?
What if, instead of outsourcing your voice to a machine, you used your emails to get even more creative? More personal? More you?
To say the thing no one else is saying.
To share stories that not only sell without feeling salesy, but actually connect.
To treat writing like a form of creative expression again, not just another marketing task you dread every Monday.
Because when everyone else is phoning it in with filler fluff, your creative expression becomes your unfair advantage.
And hey, maybe you DON’T have an over-dependance on ChatGPT to write your emails. But you’re still not seeing those clicks, replies, and sales come through—I guarantee you, when you learn the storytelling techniques, you will!!
